Street Art
Love this bit of street art. I think it's of an early 1950's Ford Thunderbird coupe. It adorns the west side of an historic building on Front St. facing Riverfront park.

Hi Neighbor
A visitor coming to our house said they thought they saw camels on the way! Yes, indeed, there are several living down the road.

Metro Wannabe
The City Daily Photo blogs of NYC, Stockholm, Budapest, London and Paris share an unofficial theme day of "subways' the 15th of each month. Their underground systems are interesting and frequently lavished with artwork. Salem has no subway, but I thought I'd add this nice shot of Chemeketa St. as it passes through the underground parking structure beneath the Capitol Mall greenspace, just north of the Capitol. Two-level parking is on either side.

Well Woes
Waking up to no water is NO fun. Dropping three grand down a 250'+ hole isn't either. But new pump, new pipe and plenty of water is good. I can highly recommend Oregon Pump & Equipment. They showed up about an hour after I called. Returned quickly with the boom truck and worked until dark to restore water for us. Mike and his son Jake conduct business honestly, thoroughly, and caringly.

Historic Deepwood House
In the front parlor of Deepwood house, this is a good example of the Povey Brothers stained glass and eastern golden oak used throughout the house.

Union Street Railroad Bridge
The railroad bridge over the Willamette River, being converted to pedestrian traffic, is getting closer to completion, now set for April 18. The bridge will join the trail systems of Riverfront Park on the 'right bank' with Wallace Marine Park's on the left. See previous [post]. From this angle, it reminds me of an old roller coaster.

Roy G. Biv
Just as we were settling into the "Chemo Lounge" on the 4th floor of the COM Building at the Salem Hospital, this beautiful rainbow appeared. The State Capitol with it's golden 'Statesman' can be seen as well as Waller Hall with it's cupola on the Willamette University campus. I don't recall ever seeing a rainbow so vibrant with each band of color very distinct. We welcomed it as a sign of hope.
