Feather Friends

When you get low on photos, it's always nice to have some feather friends around. If this is a chickadee, it's the chubbiest I've ever seen. [Edit--Thanks to Pelican for letting me know this is a Dark-Eyed Junco.] This was during our white Christmas, outside my computer corner window. That's an aromatic red cedar tree we planted in 1978. (It survived the ice storm.)

I love it when birds fluff themselves up like that!

He is a Dark-Eyed Junco. The Oregon variety has a dark hood like that. Very pretty picture.

He is so pretty all fluffed up against the snow. I see you are still snowed in there. It's even snowed here a little tonight.

I'm back and trying to catch up on the posts I've missed. Beautiful photos and I love the bird.
Thanks for always posting to my blog. It would be lonely without your comments.
I'll do some Paris posts when I come back down to earth.

All fluffed up to keep warm. They trap air in there feathers to insulate themselves. Lovely shot.

What a great spot you have at your computer for viewing our tree dwelling friends. Beautiful image, Jill! We are fortunate to have so many juncos here in the Pacific Northwest.
