A recently-built new house is for sale down the road. It was built into an existing stand of trees (birch, poplar?) which I recall was planted 15 years or so ago. The trees made for a dramatic entry onto the property.
This photo was taken about a month ago.
After our recent ice storm, the landscape was changed dramatically.

We had similar things happen in Ashland last winter with a big storm. I'd say the town lost about a fourth of its trees, and we lost about half the trees on our property. Or at least we thought we did. Several that we thought were goners have come back stronger than ever. Watch these guys and see if they make a comeback too.
Oh my, how sad. Hopefully they will come back. We had bitter cold weather, but nothing like this.
Wow, those were chopped right up. We have a downed tree in my yard from the wind storm, and the neighbor's house was whacked pretty good by a handful of trees. It was just too much for them after the snow and ice we had.
Nice before and after comparison, Jill.
Eek! Will they grow back? Hope the house wasn't damaged either.
Oh, that's so sad. So many downed trees all over town. What a shame!
