Gold in Them Thar..Streams?

The gold I found though was a reflection of the bright leaves arching over the water. This is one of the rewarding sights found when traveling along the Quartzville National Back Country Byway, and along the meandering waters of the Wild and Scenic Quartzville Creek through a landscape of old-growth timber. This area is under the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). Gold panning is allowed. If my retirement fund keeps sliding, I may have to give it a try.

Hi Jill, better get to panning soon. I was reading an article about how more people were panning because the price of gold has stayed so high.

Love this! I really like your part of the world - spent a few weeks camping around there and really got to appreciate Oregon.

Thanks for posting to my blog.. Yes, the space launch does make me hold my breath until I know they are on their way.

And yes, a trip is planned.. I am going to Paris next month for 20 whole days.. full story is on my other blog.. started out as a 2 part trip but first part was cancelled so I decided to still go on original date but to just go straight to Paris. It will be my first time there.

A friend who lives in London will join me for the 2nd week but I'll be on my own for a large part of it. I'm looking forward to it..28 days to go..

Your photos are gorgeous.. I've been to Seattle but not to your area.. It's on my list.

Creeks fascinate and delight me. There is something charming about them, and certainly this photo is no exception. Feels like a pleasant spot to visit.

Glorious! Sounds — and looks — like a wonderful place to take a long walk.

If you haven't voted for the January theme yet, please do so! The poll is in the January Theme Day Poll forum topic.

Best of luck panning for gold in Salem. I imagine if it comes to that here there will be a lot of competition! I might see you on the creek myself! Nice shooting!kc daily photo blog

Boise - I'll better dig my gold pan out of the shed and get busy!

Sterl - Oregon thanks you for the compliment, coming from beautiful country yourself.

Karen - are you going to bring us along like Birmingham V. (vicariously of course)? I will check out your other blog.

Kate - I share your delight with creeks. I love the sound and wish often I had one outside my window.

Hilda - thanks for the reminder. I'd better get busy on December's!!

KC - I neglected to mention that this was taken in the foothills of the Cascades, east about an hour. Unfortunately, from what I read, this and other area creeks were pretty much panned out back in the 1800's. Though there is still a little color found, probably not enough to pay the mortgage.
