Great shot! I don't think I've ever quite seen that angle with blue sky through the fur before.
Oh, Jill, what a lovely creature! Is it some kind of squirrel? So lucky to be able to see it so closely!
First, many congrats on your 200th post and secondly, what creature is this? I really haven't a clue but applaud the photograph. A tree rat, some sort of squirrel? We have tree rats running about right now but the face is different to this. And anyway, less furry, more rat like.

Valerie and Jilly: It's a Western Gray Squirrel, common around here. They are generally pretty shy, but those in public places learn quickly that people=food. They will take a peanut from your hand.
What a cracking shot this is Jill and of course with such a beautiful blue sky the squirrel is set off so well.

This squirrel is adorable. Almost makes me wish it were possible to keep them as pets so I could kiss that little squirrel nose. I know some people DO keep them as pets but I think they are too wild at heart for that.
What a super shot for your 200th - these tree-rats are not loved round here but as photogenic subjects are admired.
