Ah, we have wood rats that do that in abandoned barns, and here you've set up a ready made condo for them!
it really is almost a nest. Lovely photo. amazing how something like this can be beautiful but it is. And so many colours in the photo too.
My post yesterday is similar to this, but made of bamboo. :)
